Google News searches 4500 periodicals. I'm surprised. I thought news was more centralized for some reason.

You can also customize your Google news page, but I doubt I ever would. More individual to take the news feeds and mash them elsewhere.

My recent favorite tool is the Google Trends (under Google Labs). It tells you what people are searching the most currently

She's keying in on the Archive/Timeline aspect of Google News. I do have to admit I find that handy. Often news I'm seeking isn't 'new'

And the archives go back as early as Kennedy Assasination

She saved custom search for the end. That is so powerful that I'd start with it! Surprised it isn't used more.

Glad that she hit Google Marker as well. Can add to custom search engines via bookmarklet. Makes it easy to do on the fly.
