only sort of related, but have you ever used Geogebra software? My wife used that when she was tutoring.

My wife liked it, and she is not a big tech person...not sure if it would meet this need, but it does look pretty interesting...

Had students model a polynomial using algebra tiles and comparing the similarities between modeling with tiles and factoring.

And, last station students solved two complex story problems using polynomials. Integrated Science in one prob. (laws of motion)
