especially if a city is very dependent on aquifers. Cities over limestone or coral deposits have higher risks

I heard yesterday that Cebu is 80% on limestone... that's a big threat

yes. Sinkholes are skurry. Mas mahirap yata tumakas from a sinkhole than from an earthquake or a tsunami. Unless... you can fly.

if Cebu would be sucking too much of its ground water, then thats scary...but I think Cebu also sits under brackishwater underground

Central Florida has a lot of lakes, especially Orlando, because of the sinkhole phenomenon.\

the circle shape is due to the rotation of Earth. I think something to do with Coriolis Effect.
