I don't think it is worth going lock step with apple for another two years. I think I am going to wait and see what alternatives come.

Maybe next summer when it drops to $99.

the one thing that bugs me about Apple's push of HTML5 is that those apps aren't first class citizens

if Apple let you build apps that lived outside of Safari, using HTML5 (maybe with some additional APIs the way AIR does JS apps) ...

that would be something else entirely
