St. Faustina is Divine Mercy...which is linked of course, to the Sacred Heart
Right. I know
I love both devotions. Grew up with Sacred Heart, Divine Mercy brought me back and I have
a pic in my livingroom that combines both images.
My father is very big into the new Precious Blood devotion.
New Precious Blood devotion? I know of it as a very old devotion...what's the "new" one?
Well, there is one that is being revived. It may not be *new* but it's being pushed via a new apparition in Africa.
Ah. Hadn't heard of that...what apparition?
A teenage boy in Kenya (??) I believe. Approved by the local bishop. Waiting for Vatican authentication.
I read through some of the stuff, but it was so dark & terrifying, I had a panic attack so have not picked it back up again.
Hmm...shouldn't need Vatican authentication. The Bishop has sufficient authority, unless he is ASKING
the Vatican for input, and that's a different matter.
Do you know the name of the boy?
I could ask. I don't know offhand. Like I said, I read through the booklet that went with the devotion and freaked out.
Well...you can find the devotion apart from the apparition.

Just google it and you'll find a lot on it
Oh, how dramatic, "The greatest devotion of our time!"
Why do all these crazy seers say the same thing?
hmmm - it also says not church approved. Hmmm. I was told otherwise.
It looks like the messages themselves have nothing contrary to the faith in them, but that doesn't mean
that the apparation is approved as authentic.
And actually a "nihil obstat" doesn't carry the weight many people think it does, Nor does the impramatur
AnglophileFF: People often misunderstand the terms used and will take them to mean more than they do.
Actually I DO see something contrary to the faith. Jesus is no longer in agony. He's not wandering around in heaven in pain
OK, I'll go crazy if I keep reading that site. My guess is that it will never be approved by the Church.
okay with that - and supports most things that get people to become more devout and contemplative.
There's a profound theological problem with it, though. but...God uses EVERYTHING even improper thought
and misunderstanding to bring people to conversion.
OK, because I'm a geek I read more of the page, and found conflicting messages, serious Ecclesiological issues
First criticizing the Church for practices she approved, and then saying to be obedient to the Church
This "seer" is conflicted. One of the marks of authenticicity is actually things that are theologically correct, things the
follow Mother Theresa and say communion in the hand is the greatest church error in modern times....
seer could not know on his or her own, whether by not having had the eduction, etc.
AnglophileFF: Oh, I agree, to an extent. And we know how that came about!
After studying Pope Benedict on the Liturgy, I haven't much of a problem with the freestanding altar anymore
and see pro populum as being an option when in the proper situation. But I see that overuse as being another negative thing of our age
But...things are coming back around
Our church uses the communion rail and we attend Latin Mass. Sadly, I've been happier in Anglican Use Parishes than most *Catholic* ones.
We are so deprived by not having the communion rail, or leaving it as a mere ornament.
I've been teaching people (at work i a church) about the significance of the rail
My parents knew John Paul's best friend from the underground seminary (RIP, Fr K) & he thought many of the reforms would be stopped.
Not that I work in a parish that has one
People DO NOT know their faith, they don't know what the Mass is, they know NOTHING
It saddens me.

A lot
And, that? is why I'd say 75% of people my age (32) have left and don't believe. And, why I am the only Catholic I know that is an NFPer.
And, I'm actually ridiculed by other "Catholic" people for following the *rules* set forth to protect my soul.
Peace be with everyone
People really do want a faith they can DIE for, but it's never been presented to them.
I'm only a little older than you, btw
I'm not sure I'd say amazing. We wonder why we have no priests? THIS is why. My son is a long way from heading into a seminary - but I'm
working on him. I was told I might not have any - when I found out I was expecting, I bargained (mea culpa) that if God gave me the boy I
desperately wanted, I'd do everything in my power to get him into the priesthood.
My bro and I were both "miracles" as Mom was told she couldn't have children
He just turned 5, but he has told us many times he wants to work at the church for Jesus like Pop (my dad is an altar server)
I am discerning religious life...she gave up on me getting married years ago but I think she likes this possible outcome!
I learned Mom once discerned religious life. Oddly enough, she was told she was "too worldly"
Um...she wasn't. Mom has NEVER been "worldly"! The order she was to enter is now left wing habitless
life is quite funny. I thought I'd be a nun for a long time - then I married my childhood altar boy.
meaning...they are more worldly than Mom herself could ever imagine!
My Dominican parish calls the Dominican nuns *Femi-nazis*
Depends on which Dominicans they are! There are good Dominicans, I love them!
The priests and nuns are polar opposite, sadly.
Where are you, geographically?
Currently? Dallas. But, I am from and am in Houston as often as can be.
Ah...I heard Dallas area has issues.
YES! It does, sadly. But, we've found a good parish here. The Dominican one is in Houston.
There are many faithful, wonderful Sisters and Nuns: Springfield Dominicans. Nashville, Srs of Mary Mother of the Eucharist
There is actually a very traditional cloistered nunnery just south of the Cowboys stadium.
are they fans?
Sadly, my experience with nuns has been quite the opposite. I was blackballed by the theology dept in high school for refusing to pray
the Our Father and Mother prayers.
Um...the "Our Father and Mother"??????
Two former priests and 1 homosexual woman who had an *agenda* to become a priest comprised the theology dept.
I know. Disturbing, to say the least. I accept that God is above gender, but Jesus called Him Daddy (Abba), so I will, too.
Exactly. Besides, he also call the Church is Spouse, the Bride.
And we know what kind of relationship bears fruit!
the pope would go on an excommunication spree and rid us of such people. Especially our choice *Catholic* politicians.
Thanks for the very philosophical discussion
