What is the difference between being someone's friend on plurk and being a mutual fan?

macmom: When someone Fans you and you visit their site you can fan them back or add them as a friend. I wondered what the difference was :-)

Maybe it means that mutual fans can see each others' public posts but if you did a post friends only they wouldn't see it.

Yes, look under your name next to the box where you type your plurk. It reads private plurks, languages and options. Click on Private Plurks
