I am also reading The Lovely Bones. It's good. Also, the movie (not out yet) was filmed less than a mile from my house :-)

Water for Elephants (Sarah Gruen) was a book I really enjoyed this year. I also like The Pilot's Wife (Anita Shreve).

I liked the pilot's wife - I hadn't heard of Sarah Gruen before so I will look out for it
