not like you're getting paid for it
But there's this deal, where if you do not finish it, you must take all of the work you've done off from where you posted?
well, the work is for someone else, right? so if you take it down, that other person can't use it
and besides, you deserve to at least be paid some sort of compensation for devoting yourself to a project for over 4 years
Mmm, not that they can't use it anymore. It was just for fun in the beginning. Haha, it was a bad decision on my part.
There are 42 pages. I've done 33.
Kind of. She worked on a story, and I draw something for each chapter. The work killed me, but at the time, it was good practice.
and the deal was that if you stop working on it, she wont host it anymore?
No, the deal was that if I don't finish, I have to take every page I drew and remove them from DA/
She totally knew what she was doing, but I didn't. My own fault, but... still.
ah, so you cant display your own work unless you finish it, i see
if you want to fight for it, tell her that you're nice enough that you're doing her a favor for free
if not, just take it down, you can always do more pages of your own story yourself
it's not worth being enslaved for more years
yes, doing artwork for someone else without compensation is slavery
True, true... I'll just send her what I've got done and tell her I can't do it anymore. I don't wan to keep her waiting any longer.
*sigh* I broke a promise... shoot.
no, you're just fed up because you're not getting anything out of it xD
talk to jenny, she knows all about getting compensated for your work
Haha, I dunno. I feel guilty though. XD
if you weren't the one who forced her to write stories for you, you shouldnt feel guilty
even if you did offer to draw her stories
you're the one who offered your artwork for free, if she doesn't compensate you, you should be able to quit whenever you feel like it
and an artist should always retain rights to his/her art. deals that involve "you cant put it up if you dont finish it" are bad deals
cuz that means you give up your rights to your own artwork
Oh. I never thought about it that way. o_o;; I guess it just feels wrong to let someone down. Doesn't that just make me irresponsible?
there's a difference between being irresponsible and knowing when to stand up for yourself =/
irresponsible is if you've been paid to do 42 pages of comic and took over 4 years to finish only 33 of them
but if you offered to draw for someone, that person has no right to bind you into a contract/deal that puts you in a disadvantage
she should be grateful you did 33 pages for her for free
