so now updating yahoo messenger, i get that crappy yahoo toolbar installed in my system without even asking. Feels like malware...

yeah, you have to do the custom install to get the option to NOT install it...if you do the basic install you're stuck with it
and good luck trying to get rid of it, it's a pain in the ass...i speak from experience
yeah i finally managed to get rid of it after a couple hours of trying, uninstalling it with normal ways doesn't help, gotta use the
extensions menu from firefox
yup that happened to me as well. And i always do custom installs, don't know how i missed that option.
i can't even get yahoo to run on my puter
they sneak that toolbar into many many installers and its set taht you have to tick it off in the settings. that IS malware
it comes with java, and uhm openoffice i think and uhm.. quite some more stuff
