lol, great. I guess I won't have to worry for a long time anyway. I don't really get how it works though.. its not connected to the internet

or Blizzards servers.. it seems like it just generates a number at random, so I don't see how the servers can possibly know what a battery

I'm guessing it involves the use of satellite technology. Blizzard server generates a code every 60 seconds, beams to satellite, beams

The authenticator itself does not generate the code. Blizzard does..or their service provider.

I have a similar device for accessing work since I work from home. Those batteries last a long time.

and you've probably noticed it shuts itself off after a few seconds to conserve power.
