1st example: outdated content was being returned before newer (more up to date) content.

2nd: all these people attend conferences, and hash tag their tweets/plurks. These conferences happen every year and they use the same tags

i know there's a meta tag for date, but i don't know that browsers index that and use it to sort

on top of my head, one good way to do this in the eyes of search engine, and it has nothing to do with markup, is to have a good url
