just draw the shadows and leave the highlights empty

ummm like let's say you're trying to write a word, and you wanna make them have shadows, well you wouldn't draw the actual letters

just the shadow part

same with drawing other things, like trying to make a face with just shadows of the nose, eyes, mouth, neck
