Good to meet you. The early foreign reports (BBC or Reuters) said he claimed to be yakuza...looks like it was delusions of grandeur.

Pretty sure they got the right guy. Since he slashed up a cop and there were so many witnesses. Seriously, thousands in that area then.

I see. Well, everywhere they talk about "suspect"

Yeah, but it's Japan. Here people almost always confess to their crimes immediately. Odd, huh?
Начик

yeah, and sometimes even people who didn't do it. Japanese efficiency?

When someone doesn't confess, the court system gets very confused...it's antiquated.

I was thinking... uhm that's Akiba, maybe there are like 10000 people there nutty enough to confess for that
mopedronin

it's not because it's Akihabara that he confessed. the police have a 90% confession rate period. that's just the culture here.
mopedronin

it's not uncommon for people to recant during their trial though. people who confess get 'lighter' sentences.

those that dont face a hard time in court, even if there is little evidence to support innocense.

I didn't mean that he confessed because it was Akiba, I meant that you can most probably find many people there willing to confess that
