On regards to Prussia's 'DEATH'
getting his country dissolved didn't kill him.
Obviously since he's around in modern times to pick on everyone
BUT he will die in the future.
"In response to questions raised by some of the dialogue in the Germany segment, it was clarified that Prussia is a "retire
d" nation that passed on his skills and traits to Germany, and may in fact disappear and die out over time. "
THERE IS A "MAY" THERE MEANING IT'S NOT CERTAIN
as stated on his profile&^
Rome did it and came back a ghost anyway
Can't say Germania since he hasn't come back as a ghost
|D I doubt it'll happen in the series though
Prussia's one of the big characters due to the fan base
He gets more side projects than anyone because of it
and people do still consider themselves Prussian
Yeah that's the reason I take he is still around
*nods* I know a friend's housemate is Bavarian and has been known to grumble about the bloody Prussians
When your people start calling themselves something else your gonna die. 8|
And Irish 8| /can out drink everything
I need to find out about the German history in my family
BUT-- THIS MEANS SURE YOU GUYS IF YOU WANT TO SEE HIS GRAVE STONE AND GET A WARM HAPPY FEELING IN YOUR STOMACH.
I'm always intrigued that Americans know what countries their families came from XD
Well I've got a full bloodied German name |D
That kinda gives the hint that only required a bit of searching
Prussia's gonna see Fritz's 8>
It's just not something that I've ever really come across in England unless you're really into geneology
Many Americans are really obsessed with that sorta thing, I just like being American |D
I at least live in a city with a lot of semi-distinct ethnic subdivisions. SO.
zaliachimera: Being American isn't so much a heritage (like being Spanish or being French is) as it is a nationality.
Being able to distinguish yourself as, say, Polish-afilliated means a lot.
You are American by birth or however you got here, but by blood you are wherever you came from
... PRUSSIA DON'T BE DEAD
Never really thought of it like that XD
I almost definitely have heritage from other countries because in England it is impossible not to
The problem is that you have people from EVERYWHERE, and sometimes people like talking to people who have similar experiences
but they would have no bearing on me being from England
Yeah, I mean. I'm American, definitely.
like, I'm a mix of a bajillion things, but I still love meeting other Americans of Hungarian decent and talking food with them
But I can't talk about making pierogi with everyone.
because Hungarian food is nom and it's different coming from someone who had a Hungarian grandma who cooked real Hungarian food.
Dude you're not that far away.
And generally, English people would take about English food, not whatever food someone in their ancestry ate
I'm driving over and eating your food.
Food is actually one of the big things passed down in America
you are what you eat, and it shows where your family came from
soodonim: sure I'll make you stuffed cabbage
Oh yeah. It's not something that your ancestors ate, it's something you've grown up eating and making yourself.
It is a very different way of looking at things XD
Family traditions hold too, sometimes. Like in my family, we always leave money outside on New Year's Eve and bring it in after midnight.
It's supposed to be good luck and good fortune for the new year
Yeah. We put straw under the tablecloth at Christmas. And always have white vinegar on the table at Easter.
Though the traditions kind of fade over generations too. Like, I'm 3rd generation American, and I don't have nearly as many traditions as--
-- my friend, whose parents immigrated from China, has.
Admittedly, my immediate family is limited to 2 generations
And the great Aunt who none of us like seeing
haha XD everyone has that aunt
She kinda disowned me because I took Japanese
She knows no-one who was involved in Japan in any way, even during WW2
Huh. I guess some people are just like that.
oh yeah, just remembered: the nationality vs heritage thing for Americans also comes from a rather nasty part of American history.
Namely that there used to be (and still is) a lot of discrimination, and sometimes it's easier to talk with people who are just like you
until there's no more racism, classism, immigration-ism, and what have you, I doubt American will ever be a heritage
It's interesting to me. I have found that Americans do always seem to have more of an investment in their family history
I'm kind of curious about mine, but I don't think it would have any bearing on me personally, if that makes sense
Yeah, and for some people it doesn't matter at all. But some people do care.
It's just a funny thing for Americans, we like to know as much as we can when it relates to us haha.
Yeah, and there's a lot of variation.
Like for my dad's side of the family?
Them being Indiana farmers matters a lot more then the fact that their ancestors came over from Bohemia and Prussia.
But for my mom's side, them being Polish continues to this day to inform a lot of the family identity.
Austria is going to try and be classy and not do a little dance when he sees that. >_>;
