seriously, most stories ferment in my brain for months before getting laid out on paper. I roll them around a lot while driving.
So it's just a matter of finding the quiet time to type out the story that's played out mentally.
I dont think I would ever write a single thing if I had to know the whole plot beforehand.
I've got a large unfinished something where I wrote what came to mind, out of continuity like shooting a film, and ID'd "holes" for later.
I've occasionally written an outline, just so i don't forget cool notions in my brain. But I keep it sparse.
the idea. Now if she could find some way of organizing all the snippets of writing she has stored everywhere, she'd be delighted.
I've done Tanarian's approach too, just writing drabble and filling in the spaces later. (I'm reminded you haven't finished that, Tan.)
I've done outlines too, just to keep everything straight. I can see the advantage of multiple columns.
Reghan, I have folders with folders nested inside, in an attempt to organize my snippet by genre, mood, whatever.
Organizing a writer brain is .. crazy work.
