if you know what's causing the lock ups

I think either the ram is bad, or the video card (built in) is corrupting the ram in some way.

in any case, the machine is getting a little older, and something is wrong. Heat damage has an effect after a while.

should add that the built in I810 graphics use some system ram to function... brilliant design. ugh.

yes, but not until I've exhausted all other options. I submit that the cheapness of my employer is a virtue... I traded ram with ...
