Why?

We've really been hating this season. I want to care about the main character, but I just can't. Do you mind spoilers?

I don't watch the show, so I don't mind. I watched the first episode, got freaked out, and stopped.

In the first season, Dexter was much more sympathetic. He went after criminals who had slipped through the justice system.

Somehow, he's gone from that to just going after anyone society won't miss. And he's actively thwarted police investigations just so

he can get the kill.

AND the early shows also had an element of dark humor in them. It was funny to watch Dexter struggle to live a double life.

But at the end of last season, they randomly decided to kill off his wife, and they've had his step-kids leave for their grandparents.

So now he's all dark with no funny, making awful decisions, and it's really hard to sympathize with him.

They should have just ended the show last season.

And the character went from being a great father (even though he didn't know he was) to a really awful one.

Marcus-at-work says it's hard measuring up to Season 4, & this is more like S3. He also says it's building slowly.

Season 4 was pretty good. Season 2 was the best, I think. It was so tense.

I'm just sticking around to see if they have the character recognize what he's been doing differently.

Sounds like they're giving in to people's desire for blood baths

Nah. They're just going for added "drama".
