Mello - in his L fanfic - writes that L originally had 272 days and then writes his name in the Note having 23 days left

I note this because this is *not* anime or manga canon, this is movie canon, which kinda makes me sad

or I suppose another way of looking at it is that it's completely 'another world'

Although I like movie canon for its simplicity, it almost completely lacks Near and Mello, and it's really hard to square w/ the characters

the book is similarish, but definitely adds a lot more L -> Misa but seems to imply it's not sexual or beauty based

might also be b/c iirc Misa gets out of the movie without dying

so L would still be focused on her
