Well, my body finally succumbed to the chemo drugs. No infusion this week as my white cell count is an infinitesimal 0.4.
Any less and I wouldn't have a single white cell left. So now what? Three days of Neutropin (a drug that stimulates bone marrow
to produce more white cells, while also causing flu like bone pain...). A round of Cipro to counteract anything
I might pick up and not be able to fight off. A face mask to wear in public,
with the admonition to stay way from the public and all fresh fruits and vegetables
(except bananas. If I couldn't have bananas I would lose 1/4 of all the food I CAN eat.)
Then next Tuesday we test my blood... again and try for an infusion round with 25% less FolFox.
The doctor would rather reduce the dose than stop the treatments altogether.
I'm glad your doctor is staying on top of it and not just going by a standard plan.
In chemo there ARE no standard plans. Each is a delicate dance depended on the strength of the body and the person going through it.
