i am torn..i want them to follow passions, but I think they need to have a wide foundation of knowledge/skills.
They need more of everything...foreign language, fine arts, science, math...but not enough time
I see what you mean. I think, because grades are SO important, there should be a way to take "bonus" courses that didn't affect gpa
for example, the difference between my HS grad class' valedict and solud was .002. no incentive to take enrich courses with that on the line
which might be why some schools have gotten rid of Val & Sal.
not a bad idea... I suppose in the spirit of disclosure, I'm interested in studying Swedish style schooling to see what can be gleaned
