made so much jook that i had to scoop some of it out as it expanded. i was too lazy to haul down the big stewpot from the top of the fridge.

it doesn't look appealing to me. I don't like rice pudding or rice milk or horchata. But I'm glad you're enjoying it. :-)

i have many fond memories of jook. it's one of my comfort foods! but i'm one of those people who is crazy about rice!

it is cháo! i tend to go for the pho in vietnamese soupshops, but cantonese noodlehouses are more plentiful and are open after bars close.

:-D i grew up on southern comfort food in e. tx. came to sf in early 20s. but am lucky. never had a texture problem. i love textures!
