the kicker was the refill kit on ebay - saves lots of money since the normal cartridges are the real expense.

it shouldn't scare the cat as it only runs 1-4 times a day, not when the cat leaves the box

how long ago? and was it a cat genie or a different brand?

the Cat Genie sounds genius. I always hated cleaning the litter box.

Cat Genie is much more industrial internals and high ratings from owners. I'm hooking it up now, will be a few days until they use it

ok, so I messed up by trying to see it in action by trying to put some remnants from the litter box in - bad idea - Scott_RTFM-FAIL, but...

all is well after flooding the thing. I called support and they walked me through how to get it to drain and its now running perrrrrfectly.

they even give you nice instructions on how to acclimatize the kitties, so more in a few days once they are offended by existing boxes

I just looked it up and it looks pretty awesome. of course, my cat would screw it up somehow.
