woke up at 1 AM and read until 5 AM, fell asleep for half an hour, got up to go to work, but was too out of it, emailed work to
say i would be late, then finally got in to work at 10:30. it's one of those days...
You need to find a way to sleep through the night.
but to reward myself, i did stop and get a turkey and bacon sammich and coffee
yay rewards for sleeplessness!
i do, but all the docs say 'try ambien'. i did and i don't like it at all. but given that i'm burning thru my vacation time, maybe i should
don't try to kill me in the middle of the night and then just turn it into a story for your new apartment neighbors!
if you don't want your ambien, I'll take it
lol! you would make much better use of it. thing is, i don't have any more cuz i tried a sample, then threw the rest out.
i didn't know of its other uses!
what's your bed time? i'll send sleepyvibes.
really, i could geek out about sleep pretty much endlessly if you let me.

thanks steff! during the week i have to go to sleep around (gulp) 9:30 PM. ugh, working life.
and then you wake back up about 4 hours later? how much sleep do you traditionally need?
yes, exactly! it's almost always 4 hours later. well... i say i need at least 7 hours, but i don't really know. some days i'm fine with 5,
other days, i feel like i need 8 or 9. who can say when i have no such thing as a regular pattern. i blame graduate school , but i blame
that for pretty much everything
you may be adjusting the amount of sleep you need, but since you're still exhausted later you might need to play with that.
but seven sounds normal and healthy, so if that's what you're used to...
<---not a doctor, just a geek.
assumes you're practicing all the regular, boring "sleep hygeine" tricks?
geeks are often much more fun that medical docs.

yeah, i actually have a sleep doctor, but what exactly is their training? i can't seem
to find much info on that. i can stand around and make crap up all day, but it doesn't mean it helps anyone. i do practice (often) the
proper sleep rules, but no joy. ugh, maybe i could talk to my sleep doc again...

oh well, could be worse.
try cutting out caffeine even earlier in the day (my least favorite) and also try a tweak when you wake up instead of a staying asleep one:
within a minute or two after you get up in the morning, expose your eyes to VERY BRIGHT light for about 30 seconds.
do that for a few days and it will help reset your sleep patterns, especially in winter.
it wont' be immediate and it might not help you sleep, but it WILL help you feel more alert even if you havent' gotten enough.
i know it sounds crack-pottish.

but it helps, it rly does.
the side effect of not being nauseous is being sleepy
thanks, steff! i will add that to the treatment mixture
shelley, i tried melatonin but it only works some of the time for me. no idea why it's not more effective... anyway, i need to have a
comprehensive response, so maybe i'll just take a mess of pills at night and bright light every morning, and less caffeinne
Mojo has restless legs. I can try tying his legs together
hmmm, that would probably keep me up, though, for... other reasons
