(cozy) when the newer batteries fail, they fail hard and fast. I hope it is a battery issue and not something worse.

I hope that's all it is too. I had a mechanic look at it yesterday when I was having problems. He thinks it's the starter.

it was having a hard time turning over and catching. It'd start the engine but it wouldn't engage
TrinitySerpentine says

then i'd try to turn it off and the engine wouldn't completely stop
TrinitySerpentine says

so when you turned the key, the engine would crank, like wow wow wow wow, but not fire up? Or did u get more of a Bzzzzzzzingggggg! sound?

Or is it a clickclickclick then nothing?

It not stopping is not a starter issue. I'm assuming its gas, not diesel. (thinking)

the running on after you shut it off is troubling. Do you know if it overheated? Was it making any smoke or anything?
TrinitySerpentine says

Nope, no smoke and the gauge didn't register hot.

maybe its the ignition switch. If its still running normally even after you switch it off, the switch might be bad. I can't hear it so I
Dazz

dunno if the run-on is from dieseling cuz its too hot, or if the ignition is still on.
TrinitySerpentine says

It's a mute point for the time being as it won't even start now. All I get is the click.
Dazz

well, where I was going was, if it got too hot, and was dieseling, its possible the engine siezed up and its not the starter or battery.
