kitchen design 90% complete. Cabinets and appliances picked out, so after some measurement checks and bid we can start work. Woo Hoo!

that part really was fun. It was the installing of the choices that was ugly.

whatever they tell you in terms of time needed, double it. They are ALL liars.

went without a counter-top for three months. It was a comedy of errors, but everyone I know has had something similar happen.

contractors are an unreliable lot. Even if it's your own husband. Maybe especially then.

we're going through home depot for the materials and the contractor, so far, so good. Their contractor bid comes in later this week.

used Home Depot for everything. Beware the granite countertop guys.
BurghBaby

and beware the cabinet installers. All Pittsburgh Home Depots use the same place (P& something or other).

thanks. Our cabinet guy is independent subcontractor for HD. He's impressed us much more than others that have bid on project so far.

oh, I know who he is. He IS good. It's the guys who actually do the installing that are questionable. He will come through, though.

spoken to him many times. He personally fixed the goofy crap in our kitchen.

the key is to not be afraid to closely monitor what the installers are doing and to ask questions as they do it.

nice pics. Are you able to use your wine fridge for normal child beverages? We're debating about putting one in.

locks are brilliant. I think we maybe getting the same counter top - Silestone quartz in coffee brown. How do you like them?

I'll have to give up one of the twins to afford?

I gave up all hopes of neatness with the first child, so no worries there. I think our est for countertops is about 6k-ish.
