oh yeah! all locally produced films. hahaha
why don't you try watching before judging?
yes, but some are really good. i used to think like you before until i shirked off my colonial mentality actually watched some pinoy films.
for noobs like you, i'd recommend juday starrers Kasal, kasali, kasalo/saklolo. you'll be surprised that the plot is actually good
for the more advanced pinoy film viewers, try cinema one's YANGGAW
edwinguillermo, it's not an issue of colonial mentality. I appreciate classic pinoy films like
Dekada 70, Maynila: Sa mga Kuko ng Liwanag, and even Anak. But can you honestly tell me that the Filipino films now are of the same caliber?
I'm sorry,
edwinguillermo. Just look at one of the films in the MMFF line-up, "Ang Tanging Ina Nyong Lahat" Wat da???
And that's a family film supposedly? Come on.
As if they're fooling anyone. We are living in the age of DATA REVOLUTION. Expect smarter audience. Geez.
yes,
kcet0910. oro, plata, mata : Filipino masterpiece. I didn't mind that that it was a relatively long one, it was worth every minute. i
heard a foreign film adapted this, i forgot the title though..
yup, MMFF is a travesty. But our hope lies in the hands of the indie filmmakers who take the power out of the big studios by going digital
I still have my hopes up for DAYO. In the meantime, try to catch other festivals like CINEMALAYA, CINEMANILA, CINEMAONE, ANIMAHENASYON etc.
Cinemalaya is in a different league all of its own. Too bad it's not
shown in accessible cinemas like the Ayala malls.
As for DAYO, now this is a risky one. Being one of the first in the industry, this can make or break Philippine animation..
i guess indie films have niched themes that only their target audiences can
relate to. Examples are independent movies that focus on homosexuality, now those are a LOT.
straight dudes wouldn't appreciate those kinda stuff, but the daisies would go gaga over them.
Indies for me are remarkable stuff because despite their budget constraints,
they pull of pretty decent work.
Comparing them to big-budgeted garbage now in the MMFF. We should stop pretending that these movies are actually good. Because they're not.
