i get a year for $5 less than i was paying for dsl. but i had to buy a new modem. bummer. i'd just bught a new a few months ago.

hmmm, never heard of vdsl but I am curious about it. Let me know if you notice a change in speed/connectivity.

Att just announced they will be capping DSL usage to 150GB a month. u-verse at 250. Att sucks, but my only alternative is comcast. No way!

i think it was their way of getting me to "upgrade". they said they're phasing out dsl.

you can think of VSDL as a higher bandwidth version of ADSL; you need a VDSL device to use it.

it's not backward compatible. Typically, VDSL can deliver about 5x the bandwidth of ADSL over the same copper pair

bandwidth testing is tricky. You need to know you have something on the other end that can overwhelm your connection.

I've latched on to a VSDL circuit; SL is just as slow as ever; however, I can get bursts over 30Mbps from things like Akamai.
