... yeah that would certainly be breaking things.
sighs. It'd be nice if they'd cap non-premium accounts at a lower inventory number and let premiums actually have a benefit (more!)
This is bad.
just have to stop carrying the 35,000+ items she's made around with her...
Where was this posted or where is the official word? I've heard this before but it never happens.
i'm in strict opposition of capping, both for free or premium accounts.
whether they should just archive accounts that have not been accessed in 12 months... got to wonder how much inventory space that'd save
yeah I bet that would do the trick.
if they really want to kill what remains of their userbase, sure. be my guest LL. shoot yourself in the foot again.
i hope this rumor is just a rumor... this would destroy my second life...
KallistiBurns's idea and
codie's passionate outburst. I'm not keen on capping for anyone - but if it happens... i want to see an actual
benefit for faithfully paying for my account since the first week of joining.
i cancelled my Premium, Moggs.
this has been floating around the rumor mill for over two years now - even down to the quoted number...
believe me, i'm not going to give them money again over the 500$USD i pay in tiers per fucking month. won't happen.
if for 500$, i get the equivalent of roughly 2 CPUs and not enough storage for my what, 35000 items? FUCK THEM.
if they cut my tiers in half, we'll talk about it again and see how i feel about it.
i'd like to know that to in order to send more hate mail
It's an age old argument... My position is nothing is free and nobody should be expected to underwrite other people's lives. PERIOD

that I think that if people own an island or sim - or even a smaller significant bit of land - they are paying anyway, token membership
Valiant: SRSLY? screw you. i pay 600$ per month to LL. more than my actual RL rent. don't come and tell me 'nothing comes free'.
i pay, i paid, and i will pay much more again.
truth is LL is sucking the SL middle class dry. and truth is, we won't be able to take much more of that.
sees the premium membership as a way to get "support" or in the case of LL "rape people up the ass for no return" from those who
choose not to own land. Even my alt pays... but she doesn't always own land of often I wonder why I bother paying.
can we also mention that nothing comes free to LL? the SL evangelists? the mentors attracting crowds? the free viral marketing?
the free content that creators makes to attract those users? all of the pay content that creators makes for peanuts?
Where is this info coming from Phaylen?
I love that there are amazing people in SL that couldn't afford to be if they had to pay every month. I love that I've got to meet them or
see their creations and I think that SL would be a very sad place without free account holders. My only wish is for some extra benefits or
recognition of those who do pay (whether it be an account fee or land fees)
caping inventory is not an extra incentive. think about it. non premium accounts buys Lindens too! they shop for stuff!
now you're going to tell them that they must pay to store more of the items they spent RL bucks on? it's just ridiculous
giving real incentives for premium, nothing against, of course. but this is a downgrade, and a major one.
doesn't agree with the capping. At all. My only comment was that if it does go aheah... blah blha

your argument is very logical - and may actually lose them money - reduced whim shopping on the marketplace.
well we remember teh VERTEX cap of '09 that was imposed in 1.23.1 without any prior warning (aside from to those 12 people on the JIRA)
That ultimately added to processing load as people were forced to bypass it so that they could actually see prim items...
Ok, first, no link? I'd like a source, please. Second, capping inventory will just make people box stuff. It won't really solve anything.
It was discussed on The Phoenix Hour today, I was floored when Jessica Lyon shared that this was indeed planned by Linden Lab
I sort of had a little fit on air. It was live but recorded, you will be able to watch the show soon for what was said by Jessica, verbatim
and my reaction to it. I have 9 years of shit in my inventory, i don't like the system deciding for me
which ten thousand of my object will load on a given day.
It will not delete your inventory, but it will cap the load at 10k from what I understood.
i honestly don't believe stuff unless it comes out of a linden's mouth (or typed out of fingers) directly
i don't care who the person is passing on the supposed "knowledge" if they don't work for linden labs they are not a good source.
That's fine, Nimil.
are they trying to kill their own economy?
No... they're looking at making efficiencies without knowing how people use the grid... Lindens don't shop, don't build, don't run stores...
Ok, that's a yes... but inadvertently...
offs i got 35k in mine....good thing im deleting stuff
no fucking way, that cannot be true
I have ten K items from ONE store, I wont even go into my amount, but NO FUCKING WAY, I would go NUTS on LL
okay i just listened to the interview, and this is NOT AT ALL what was stated.
capping the LOAD of single folders containing over 10K items is COMPLETELY different than a restrictive inventory cap!!
oohhhh ok that's much more understandable X-x
it's perfectly understandable, and SRSLY, who has 10K of objects in a single darn folder? apart a few of us not cleaning Objects...
and even there, nothing is lost! we wouldn't be forced under 10k inventory total, at all, from what i understand.
Ohhhh 10k per folder??? Oh....whew...oh that's way better....i usually put hunt stuff in one big folder tho

and i get stuff from the DSN
