What do you need, exactly? Ideas or suggestion for presenting? Editing software?

we have a teacher who has the students take pictures that represent themselves (in an abstract sort of way) and make a book to explain it

I was hoping for advice on lessons and implementation/problems from anybody who has already hade experience with it.
