I asked a friend to explain the concept and it makes a bit more sense.
from what I understood, meshes are simpler surfaces compared to sculpts, so rather than the sort of puzzle piece texturing on sculpts.
they should also take less resources than sculpts making them load faster and the ability to create more complex shapes with fewer prims.
