i'm happy to hear something concrete(ish) about the fractional prim cost, was wondering where that was going to fall. i'm confused by the
Allegory says

lack of bone length and rotation there, because that ought to be kinda...absolutely necessary to rigged meshes, unless they mean something

other than what i think they mean....

I thought that was confusing too! it would suck if they implemented changes to the skeleton in two phases and screw up all the rigging :-(

btw, when you make mesh clothing, do you make it so that it covers the av's body? or does it intersect the av's body like most prim clothes?

it makes me VERY wary of releasing anything rigged until they sort that out.
Allegory says

either or, situationally.

here's a vid of a mesh dress I made a few months ago: Mesh Beta

the downside with covering the bod entirely is that while yeah, it adjusts SOME to shape, it only adjusts SOME, so the end user may have to
Allegory says

do massive shape adjustments to wear it- boobs/arms/hips/etc. cutting through, or huge gaps where areas aren't padded enough.

super cute! that's an entirely mesh dress over the av, yes? upside to that being you'll be more likely to be able to wear it with full

yep, found that out the hard way

mesh avs/over more things, downside being the shape adjustment thing. rigging adjusts to bone length&distance, NOT to the amount of padding
Allegory says

on those bones.

so for tight fitting stuff and things that are wearable by more people with less hassle, the same mix of clothing layer&attachment still has

uses.

yep it covers the whole av, you can't see it in the video but there's a big gap between the dress and the body around the neck hems

I guess it's ok for big billowy cartoony dresses but definitely will require lots of tweaking before I can make more realistic stuff
Allegory says

i kinda doubt they're ever going to have meshes adjust to padding (though honestly, i'm pretty damn shocked we're getting rigged at all to

begin with), so it'll always be a tradeoff.

omg I know! anything that wiggles is a huge step forward :-D I'll probably just use an alpha mask to magically erase any extra meat anyway
Allegory says

yeah, the touchy part will just be the edges, with alphas we can take care of the rest.

im kindof surprised they didnt use an automatic cage system instead of rigging for this, like in bluemars. It was so simple & great results.

I haven't tried Blue Mars, how does the cage system work?

Of course it doesn't surprise me that LL took the complicated route :-P
