I am reworking ours and think $650 a month for 2 adults and the kid, eating meat from either farms or the meat market (read expensive)
and organic fruits/vegs should work.
I know it is pretty high though too.
wow - I spend less than that for 2 adults and 3 (now 2) kids.
It does include personal care, drugstore type items now that I am trying to dissect it.
It's all Kroger, Walgreens, Target and Walmart purchases. Would include pets too.
our goal with eating out is $200 a week.
it's rarely on target tho
I get squinchy when I think about it in terms of a whole month. We eat out *maybe* once a month, I try to keep it as low as possible
I'm sure we're closer to 250 a week with groceries, eating out & starbucks
I don;'t have an eat out budget cos we rarely do it. Probably for the lack of choice locally. But still...
By that, I should be spending $544 per month on food alone for the 3 of us for the low cost option and $663 for moderate.
I think we are moderate based on my expensive meat and veggie purchases.
So we are totally in line with that chart based on my including all personal care, household and pet items in the total.
My hubs isn't going to like this.
We spend about $450/month and there's 5 of us, a dog and a bird.
I think my stockpiling, couponing is throwing our total higher. I have slowed down on that and we won't need to buy many personal care item
for awhile. And now that I am under a microscope, I will be slowing my store visits for awhile anyhoo.
I wish they would list the 12-18 group teenagers eat you out of house and home!!!!
Wow - It says we should be spending about $800 a month!! on the LOW COST Plan
I did that too. I bought 2 rubbermaid tubs with plastic latches and filled them with toiletries. One for us, one for the boys and stored
Kaytabug - if you add up the individuals, you can get that number.
oh! I missed they were listed under adult!!
v interesting to see us as moderate-liberal...I think that's the 1st time I've EVER been considered liberal
wow. i can't even compute that. we dont fall into any of the categories. we are a fam of 4 but the age ranges are wrong for *all* of us
even for the couple
OMG! I just added us up individually for our appropriate ages and genders, i went with the low-cost plan(I have no idea which plan we are)
for a month on low cost for 4 boys and 1 girl we should be spending $998.60.
There is NO way we spend that much on food per month!
We're at about $600/month but that also includes all cleaning items and pet stuff, for a family of 6 and 8 dogs.
We eat almost all generic and buy absolutely nothing pre-packaged except box mac & cheese.
