Hopefully it is just a misunderstanding, not a matter of policy.
It's more likely a matter of policy -for the same reason as FB [monetization]. Damn. knew it was too good to be true.
fight for it.... and include the whole online presence so it's not just SL but the whole online identity
Hmm. What does it mean "your name violates the Community Standards". Are you sure it's because it's an SL identity?
as far as I can tell right now, they're a bit confused themselves. Their policies aren't 100% clear.
note that my profile has been suspended - not deleted. Different than Facebook.
dandellion: I'm definitively going to fight for this. Not only because I want to be able to use Google+, but for the whole SL community.
I contacted Google by using an apposite form. Tateru also is waiting for an official reply from Google PR.
Okay, the only applicable thing in the CS I can see is the display name, but I think you can rightfully say that many friends call you OO
After review of my appeal, the Google Profiles Support Team determined that "Opensource Obscure" name violates their Community Standards.
"Google Profiles requires you to use the name that you commonly go by in daily life"
well, we all have different "daily lives" in our "daily life". As SL is not a a game as WoW, for example, our avatars are really a kind of
extension of our RL (daily lives). We users of SL know it, it shouldn't be that difficult for the Google people either. SL identities aren't
fake, but our projection in that grid.
my avatar is a representation of myself and my RL Second Life business, it IS me
seems google+ fails bad (think up an acronym for that yourself)
HOPING GOOGLE HAD FINALLY STOPPED BUILDING FAIL TRAINS
So, the question still remains, why they started with you in the first place, and seemingly ignore hundreds of other SL'ers so far.
hah! I work with a person who goes by her Derby name... in daily life. It probably violates their standards too but it is what she goes by
