i use plurk to talk with friends i know. that's not ego, it's about legitimate community. i don't randomly spam people to come look at me.

i never friended him in the first place. i'm just sick of hundreds of wannabe "internet celebrities" like tony here spamming my email inbox.

it doesn't "just happen". it takes attention seeking self-interested self-promoters making conscious decisions.

and unlike spam, which is relatively easily filtered, "friend spam" can't be, as it is formatted *exactly* like legitimate friend requests.
