for catching up
Once upon a time, in a plurk far, far away....
A young boy had asked the girl of his dreams to the drive-in to see a monster movie.
He was hoping that the movie would scare her enough so that she would cling to him for reassurance.
But as they sat there in the '78 Ford he'd restored with his own two hands, he noticed something strange.
He thought he caught a glimpse of a shadow lurking in the nearby trees.
At first he tried to tell himself that it was just one of the drive-in waitresses, checking to see if anyone needed more cherry soda.
However, the figure seemed too tall and remained half-hidden amongst the foliage. A shiver ran down his spine.
The girl of his dreams noticed, and nudged him. "I want more popcorn," she whispered.
The boy was torn. Should he risk venturing out knowing there was a stranger lurking or dash any hopes of impressing her?
All of a sudden, a shot rang out!
The stranger emerged from the woods, gun in hand.
The boy swallowed, and wished cell phones had been invented so that he could call for help. Darn that flow of history!
The girl of his dreams followed the line of his gaze, and gasped, clinging to him for reassurance. If only his teeth weren't chattering!
The stranger approached the car, then holstered his gun and rapped on the window. "Don't!" begged the girl, still clinging to his arm.
But the young man found a reserve of courage from somewhere deep inside him, possibly his bone marrow, and rolled down the window. "Yes?"
The stranger growled, "No talking while the movie's playing. Do I make myself clear?"
(that was fun
