is in the next aisle picking out items to refill the pantry. She's completely unaware that he was nearby.
rubbed his back with a sigh as he stood up straight; he was beginning to feel sore from stooping over so long. After a very intense game of_
'eenie meenie mine-y mo' he settled on some mellanmjölk, and fil as a splurge. With that in his basket he turned around and made his way_
unknowingly down the aisle where Dorthe stood, musing to himself about what types of treats he could buy for his fil. ((Mellanmjölk is like_
2% here, literally means 'middle milk', and 'filmjölk' is kind of like yogurt, only a little sweeter, and thinner.))
was listening to music on her phone practically oblivious to the world as she looked at the contents on the shelf. She tapped her foot_
_ impatiently adjusting the basket that hung on her arm, while trying to figure out which flavour of jam would be good to get.
((Oh, that's pretty cool))
spotted a long row of jams and felt his stomach gurgle with excitement... only for his excitement to drop when he noticed what he thought_
looked like an obnoxious teenager. Yet as he walked closer he realized it wasn't simply an annoying teen; it was a *Dane*. Maybe if he_
ignored her and made no sudden movements she wouldn't notice him. If only she wasn't standing right in front of the flavor he wanted.
sighs as she tucked a strand of hair behind her ear before reaching over and picking up a random flavour. Oh it was the last one, lucky her~
stares, or rather glares unintentionally, at the now empty spot. He wouldn't say anything; maybe there would be more at another store, or_
he could wait until they restocked... though that could be days, weeks, or even months! What if they never sold that flavor again?!
nods along with to her favourite song she was listening to. She places the jar into the basket and blinks when she felt like someone was_
_ glaring or something. She has a blank look on her face when she see the Swede. Maybe she wasn't so lucky today...
looks from the empty spot on the shelf to her basket, then back to the empty spot, then to her face. Oh great... She had spotted him. Maybe_
he could blend in with the shelves...
blinks a few times trying to register what was going on. She was in a supermarket and in the same aisle as him. How much of a coincidence _
_could that be? She was just staring dumbly at him now not entirely sure what to do about this_
_ encounter. If it was her Sve she would pick a fight but this guy...she had nothing against him except that he was a Swede.
"... Ah..." He said, his voice scarcely above a whisper. Was he supposed to say hello? He couldn't recall if they'd even been properly_
introduced, should he act like he didn't know who she was? What if she knew who he was? He hoped silently that maybe she would assume he was
a normal Swede and say nothing, he didn't feel like fighting with a Dane; the weather was too nice to be in a bad mood.
sort of just stares back and manages to smile...quite awkwardly. " Hej?" She glances around before looking at him again as she_
_ pulled out her headphones. Technically this was the first time they've met not including that incident with dumping him in Christiania,_
_ though she had to admit that was fun. Maybe she should just walk away or something. Or be nice and make it_
_ worse? Sounds like a plan. " How are you doing?"
"Ah... Hej..." He mumbled, turning to look back at the shelves quickly.
tilts her head. Well that was probably a good start. Maybe? She had no idea. " Uh...what are you doing all the way out here?"
didn't say anything at first as he glanced down at his basket of food items. He then turned his attention to her with a very serious_
expression. "'m sw'mmin'..."
nods slowly. " So that's why you're getting all those things?" She tilts her head.
nodded and turned back to the jams. Maybe he could find one that would be a decent substitute.
pauses. " Wait. Isn't it bad to eat and swim at the same time?"
stares at her incredulously; had she taken him seriously?! At least her Danish brilliance was coming out. Should he tell her that he had_
been sarcastic, or act like he had been serious? Were it Soren he probably would have scoffed over the man being an idiot who couldn't_
understand anything, but he didn't know her well enough to insult her level of intelligence. So instead he settled on holding his stare_
for a minute before turning back to the jams without saying anything.
blinks, thoroughly confused by his stare at her response. "Er...I'll take that as a yes." Well, he did have a better sense of humour_
_ at the very least. She sort of looks at where was staring at. " Do you need help picking out a jam?" A random question but _
_it was better than just standing there and staring.
would have demanded (or just childishly taken) the jam he wanted were it *his* Denmark, but as he didn't know her and always felt_
uncomfortable and self-conscious around strangers he shrugged instead. "Ja..." It was better to say he didn't know which one he wanted than_
to admit that he wanted the one she had.
picks out one after inspecting the shelf and also his basket. " How about this one? It would go good with that milk."
didn't particularly like that kind, but he didn't want to seem overly picky. "Ah..." He nodded. "Ja."
was a little confused by his reaction since it didn't seem like he wanted that. So she_
_ reached into her basket and handed him the one she picked earlier. " What about this one then?" Maybe he'll_
_ like that one better? She was clueless.
shook his head, despite it being the one he had wanted it. "Th't's yours."
blinks. " You sure though? I can just choose another one." She offered again. Well this was weird.
shook his head again, and offered a small smile to reassure her. "'S f'ne." She was already seeming more preferable to his Denmark, not that
that was a difficult task to do.
was a little surprised at the smile, something that occurred seldom even in the Swede she knew." Alright then." She places the jar back_
smiled all the time!... at least in his mind he did... sometimes... maybe... He was satisfied enough that she had taken it back and looked
at the shelves. The one she had suggested wouldn't be *horrible*... and if it was too bad he could send it to Finland, who looked like he_
needed to eat more anyway.
sort of looks where he was staring at. "...So how's life..." Man, she was the best conversationalist ever. Seriously.
shrugged. "Eh." Conversations were clearly his strong point. "You?"
nods. " The usual I guess."
"Ah." He nodded and slid the jar she had suggested in to his basket before standing up straight and looking at her again.
nods again. She wasn't really sure what to say now. " So...uh nice weather were having huh?" Though it might've been quite rainy actually...
nodded. He liked talking about the weather. It was safe. "'S not bad... Like th' rain."
shrugs a little as she glanced at the shelf. She could put up with this Swede much better than Astrid. " It's nicer during thunderstorms."
nodded in agreement and shuffled his feet a bit awkwardly. "Ah..." He did enjoy a good storm.
blinks and stays quiet. She had really no idea what to say now...
stared at his basket. "Eh.. How's D'nmark?"
looks over to him a little surprised that he would ask. " Er...I guess the usual?"
"Ah." He couldn't think of any other conversation. He wondered if he should say bye, or just start walking towards the registers... but_
what if he said bye and then they walked in the same way? It would be awkward; but if he just turned to leave it would look rude! Staring_
at his basket was a much easier alternative.
nods slowly. " Are you going to buy anything else...?" She blanked out completely.
blinked. "Ah... Nej..." He mumbled sheepishly after a few seconds had passed.
looked at her own basket again."Neither do I so I'm going to go to the checkout now..."Why was she telling him what she was going to do now?
"Ah... Me too..." He nodded in agreement, relieved that she had said something.
couldn't really say much since there was practically nothing to say. " Oh really? That's cool." And started to walk to the register...
shrugged and followed behind her. At least she didn't seem as obnoxious as her counterpart.
