The only legit defense I heard is that Verlander is doing everything he can to throw a no hitter, so why shouldn't Aybar do everything he

can to stop it/win the game. It was very much winnable at that point, and it was a smart play. If they were down by 5 I'd be more pissed.

Also, Verlander should have been able to field that very easily

I don't really have a problem with the bunt. I feel like they should do what gives them the best chance to win.

eh, it's very much a "gentleman-ly" rule to not bunt to break up a no-hitter. No, the other team doesn't have to respect the no-no...

...but it's always nice to be sportsman-like.

because if Weaver gets a no-no bid going soon, you know that the opposing team will pay back that bad joo-joo in spades.

I know in the past when the Red Sox had a no hitter go and the other team tried to bunt, our announcer that used to play in the 70s

got mad and said it used to be an understanding that you didn't bunt to break up a no hitter. And that if you did, you'd have a fastball

go straight at your head the next game, whether it was against the same team or not
