you can use the Nook with Seattle Public Library ebooks but not the Kindle. Library ebooks are free!

The kindle will work with library books by the end of this year supposedly.

I like paper based books.

and it appears that by rooting the nook, you have the ability to make youreslf a nice little android tablet.. suppose I will find out!
