I think it depends on the workplace setting.
Would it depend on what the tattoo is?
Some just can't be covered. My son has one on his hand.
So Jaime, which one of your tattoos does Essdack want you to cover up?
it depends on workplace, clients/customers, co-workers, and tatoo
I have one colleague who covers the flower tatoo on her foot with a band-aid and another who doesn't cover the flower on her ankle
one teaches 1st Gr. one teaches 2nd
Jamie has this really annoying spiderweb tattoo on her neck. But I don't notice it because I'm looking at the 2 full sleeve tattoos...
And this is why any tattoo I would get is under 'normal' clothing.
what if it was a tattoo of a business shirt with a tie?
self expression is ok with me and shouldn't be an issue at work. Just like someone's hair style. That spiderweb tat doesn't bother me Jaime.
there was a nurse who took care of me in the hospital whose tattoos were rather distracting, but it didn't impact her work
on the other hand, there was a clerk at Sears who had his eyebrows, lip, and nose pierced who I couldn't look at and wouldn't go back to
I also found the pre-school teacher with the pierced tongue distracting and (honestly) inappropriate
Covered as long as they can be. Facial tats are a whole different ball of wax over something on your shoulder.
declares we lost all control of what people did when we told them they could do whatever they wanted. cost of freedom
right, but I would have to think that if someone's appearance contradicted the image of the business/profession then it could be an issue
my DH was once told he could not wear cowboy boots when he was on sales calls because it didn't fit the co. image
I was asking since I do have a tattoo on my foot and we have been talking with students at a YCF about
proper dress/appearance for an interview and workplace.
Thanks to HowieG and JerryB in supporting my self expression
Ok.. truth..
Jamie doesn't have a spiderweb tattoo.. I was just messin with her while she was off plurk!

Heck I was loving the comments-not to mention wondering what I really looked liked in person.
Do you cover it
Jaime? What is it of? What did you tell the kids?
I haven't covered my tattoo but no one has ever mentioned it either.
I don't think about it being there most of the time. My tattoo is of a four leaf clover that I got in Ireland last year.
Honestly, I never noticed it..
JerryButler: Most people don't spend time looking at my feet. (though I am not hinting they are looking other places either)

Most wouldn't think I had one in the first place I don't think nor is it something I did for attention.
I must say I have no particular interest in anyones feet, although I'm sure yours are quite nice. I do wanna see the tat tho.
I am going to wear shoes with no socks tomorrow. Remind me to show you if you think about it.
Well cool.. got me curious. jealous of your ireland trip, I'd love to go.
We will have to make a trip over sometime! We can stop at the tat shop while we are there too
My sister-in-law has some that I have always thought were becoming on her
Tattoos and piercings can be nice and fine but knowing how to still look professional is the key.
My wife has several tats (5 of them) and not one that is seen with a T-Shirt and Jeans on.
Mine is most noticeable in the summer when I am wearing shorts and sandals.
I think ESSDACK should open an educational tattoo shop in the back of the offices. Offer cheaper tattooing for member districts.
You could have clelia get if funded as a vocational program
scarter: great idea! Now, what tattoo and where do I put it?
In these tough budget times - a nice source of extra revenue. I'm gonna google tattoo instructions, and ebay up the machine!
