JOSEPH GORDON-LEVITT? REALLY? drools
I would love that to be true too.
Ignoring the actors, director, or any other circumstances, if there was Robin in a new theatrical production of Batman, it would once more
"legitimize" Robin as a character.
For whatever reason, Robin's been all but shelved as being too silly for "traditional" Batman-ism, and to see that contradicted, hopefully
with a Robin who can be taken seriously in a "serious" movie would be great.
EXACTLY MAN. Those are the words I was looking for.
esp when you have Bale bashing the character, and Burton's films being partly responsible for why Robin got "phased out" in the first place.
i really hope this is true
If you want to put blame on it it's probably
Burton+the whole way Jason Todd was handled in comics
By the time you have Todd, let alone his death, comics stopped mattering for the legitimacy of the character in public mind, so Tim Drake as
oh, definitely. It's funny, seeing how Damien has come to be accepted by this era's readers for the same reasons.
it was a big combination of the perception of Todd by the readers and the perception of Robin by the corporations
that's one of the things I do truly love about sane-Frank-Miller, esp in DKR-- he GETS the role of Robin
and it was vital, even as he was darkening the tone of Batman for ever and always
lol I love you you need to specify sane Frank Miller
Frank Miller when speed or heroin or whatever the fuck he's on doesn't get the better of him.
::chimes in though I hardly ever read superhero comics:: I did like the Robin in DKR a lot and recall her with fondness. Cool & endearing.
you know. non-Crazy-Steve-in-the-brain-Miller. That guy.
would love to see someone play "The Goddamned Batman" straight in some game.
selhai: there's an almost wordless scene where Carrie starts to fall out of a helicopter, and Batman pulls her back up and hugs her.
and that is basically my favorite scene in DKR.
Like, follow the canon seriously and throw him in an RP, thus ruining that RP's image of Batman forever and ever.
YES!! I remember that one. <33
bigdamnhero: HOLY CRAP YES. someone needs to get on that. yesterday.
(also, she was kind of chubby, and you never saw that in heroes. Or maybe that was just Miller's drawing style, but I appreciated it anyway)
... Is it bad that I'm not really fond of Miller's Batman
(plus it's Miller writing a strong female RIGHT. which I guess only happens when he is writing kids. sex does weirdness to the man's brain)
well, are you talking crazy-Miller, now?
or do you mean DKR and Year One?
Yeah |D I got introduced through All Star Batman and Robin
Which made me go

.....
I hope someone did point out that Miller is also the man responsible for helping to make Batman everything badass that he is now, as an icon
I watched Linkara's review of the first two issues and I agree with every point he made :|
Oh no, I know he's made great stuff! And I know he shaped Batman to be what he is today.
It's just that reading that comic made me... wary
well, I don't even like the art. :| Have you ever read The Dark Knight Returns or Year One?
because THAT is why his later stuff is so shocking. He went from DEFINING to LOSING the character's voice.
he's just crazy, man. I blame it on the industry environment. 8| and whatever else he's doing.
I do give some weight to the rumor that he is just totally screwing with his authorial powers, in All Star
The manuscript when describing the two pages of... aaaah I forget her name - VICKIE VALE was kinda... disgusting to me
/has seen this orz. what's disgusting is how typical this attitude is of the current industry.
/looks at Red Hood and the Outlaws.
Oh, Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Robin would be amazing.
right? ;; He just has Bat-family written all over him, jeez. And a Nolan backstory.....
