material about cryptography or physics or history. Instead, it deals extensively with MMOs and Seattle geek culture. My question is:
are the people who are criticizing it people who are already in that culture and so don't see it as presenting anything new?
and how is this book received by those outside this culture? Does anyone outside this culture read NS books?
my understanding based on the reviews/articles I've read is that hardcore NS fans hate it + new NS readers love it.
I'm only 250 pages in but I'm loving it. admittedly, I have a decent amount of experience with what he's talking about.
it has a very interesting story told in a very NS style.
I'm loving it to, 66% of the way through. Totally solid. Do you think the hardcore fans hate it for the reason I suggested?
I wouldn't be surprised if people dislike it specifically because it features mmo's as heavily as it does.
