I know, right? -__- The discouraging comments hurt pretty badly, but I have never seen so many impassioned essays on tumblr

in a lot of cases, it's making people really have to stop and defined "sexy" "liberated" or what-have-you
Sazzylinzy

those comments were absolutely missing the point and misogynistic to boot.

The women's movement was hijacked by people who have gone on to make a lot of money

but in a culture that values sex so little
Sazzylinzy

how can sexy women be expected to be valued?

It's kind of remarkable. I think the reactions shocked me into realizing how many people... don't find something like this problematic

of, infinitely worse, call it "slut-shaming"

there's been a LOT of talk on the subject. I linked to some of the most re-posted/talked about stuff:

Yeah I've seen a lot of people defending the comic.

Basically the reaction is this ^

but they seem to be doing it to every lady that graces the pages of their comics
As much as the Starfire ordeal is at the forefront of criticism - and this isn't to say that I disagree with said criticisms - I'm finding
myself a lot more unhappy with how they kicked off Catwoman's first issue. Which, I know, she's always been a sex symbol and yadda yadda
But I discovered that I was very uncomfortable with that ending with sex on the rooftop, and not just because it was ridiculous...
...but also because Batman said no and she pushed for it anyway. Is that what the definition of a "liberated" woman is to us, now?
While I certainly don't like how comic women are treated, I'm equally irritated at what they get away with, sometimes.

BUT IT'S A WOMAN, SO IT'S TOTALLY ACCEPTABLE, RIGHT??
...though of course Bats just goes right on to suck her face next page, so. Hm.
This makes Catwoman STRONG and LIBERATED

i thought she was perfectly liberated before her desperate need to screw Bats on a rooftop despite his protests
Saaaame here (annoyed)

yeah, this has fortunately been dealt with in just as much detail in certain reviews. Bad all around. It's like a candy sampler of bad.
