haha but it is SO worth it!! I hear with game design it's alot of coding? and there aren't too many jobs in ottawa for it, but tons in MTL

lol well after going to dozens of conferences, you have to be CRAZY determined to get a job like that. most end up doing textures

for years until they can make it to art. Every major company (EA, Ubisoft, Sony, etc) only have 1-5 concept artists

and they change then maybe once every decade or so.

best bet would be to aim for starting something with a small group of programmers or a student project and stuff

Yeah definitely. Most places are looking for programmers for sure. Once you get your foot in the door you can work your way up!
