Well, on my mom's side of the family.

We do this thing where we fill little envelopes with money on Thanksgiving, and then give people their envelopes before we leave.

Between Black Friday and Christmas Eve, we buy our own presents and then wrap them up before anyone notices.

On Christmas Eve we surprise everyone with what we got ourselves. It actually works out, and it honestly is a surprise what we get.

I.E, my grandma got herself a freezer full of butchered meat for Christmas one year.

So, yeah.
