But increasing the light gathering capability of the reduced number of larger logical cells.
That means (in theory) higher ISO - up to 12800 and significantly better photos in low light without a flash.
There's also a enhanced 'dynamic range' mode that captures details in highlight and shadow areas better than a traditional image sensor
Again by combining the pixels.
In bright light the sensor treats each site separating giving it a high total pixel count (12MP).
I wonder if it will work as described.
