saw "Rum Diary" last night. Made Hunter Thompson look good.

didn't much care for FLILV. Was this one better?

didn't see FLILV, but read the book and didn't like it. This redeems Thompson a bit. Not too bad, not stellar

Read his book on Hell's Angels. It was good. Gritty, but very insightful.

Fat Boy just finished reading it over the holidays, too.

yeah, I read the book years ago and then watched the movie with some students. I don't get why he's supposed to be such a great writer.

though I can see why he was such a character!

read Fear & Loathing & the Hell's Angel book, and am still struggling to understand his broad appeal. Rum Diaries looks good, though

does wonder about his writing. I guess the thing with him is the subject matter and style. Gonzo Journalism.

I read it for a soc class... deviant behaviour.

that's a cool required reading. I'm fascinated by the Hell's Angels, so I'd read it even if it weren't required and weren't well written.

just has to wait until school's out.

reading with her class how the Merry Pranksters welcomed the Hell's Angels to their commune in 1965.

Hunter S. & Sonny Barger both wrote about that. They agree that the HAMC got pretty into LSD for a time . . . what an odd group, huh?
tibbits

very odd, both Pranksters and HAMC. Thompson, too.
