So the mesh deformer won't be implemented until LL does it first? They'll never get to it!

I use firestorm FOR the features the official doesn't have. It suits my needs so well and as a builder it makes building a ton easier

The policy shouldn't end up affecting build tools because those are part of the UI.

It's meant to affect what TPVs can do inworld that other viewers (specifically the official) can't. So mesh deformer is one example.

If the TPVs have to wait until LL does it first, then what's the point of using them? Maybe that's their plan :/

Usually different TPVs pick up on each other's work rather than reinventing the wheel, but the problem you describe does apply to TPVs vs V3

Which is part of what 2.k is addressing - LL doesn't want their own users to be the ones left out of seeing the world a certain way.

They want to be the standard. And in past cases, there have indeed been some problems transitioning, but usually by people slow to upgrade.
Lette

Some people preferred the old breast effects because they don't have to rely on someone else wearing a layer and wouldn't upgrade.

But the drawback is that things like multi-attachments and parcel windlight -- though they can be implemented better at the server side than

in a viewer -- were requested for ages and ages before getting done by TPVs. And it may have been the TPV initiative that prodded LL to

finally address them, though that's hard to confirm, obviously.

So removing that layer of competition means that although the features will get done better, they'll probably get done a whole lot slower.
