loved it. hubs enjoyed it. however, he can accept all of the arena things except the dogs.
he can see how they manipulate the fire, and I told him about others that are in the book. he could see the means in which they could do
those, but he is very bothered by the sudden magic of appearing dogs. not plausible and it's killing his poor engineer mind.
the movie was pretty good. liked that it mostly stayed true to the book.
Good to know a guy approved. I told Josh he'd like it but he's skeptical.
my 14 yr old really enjoyed it, he also read the books.
I thought of your son as I typed that - I remembered you took him!
Hubs said it was 10% male in the audience. I didn't pay attention. My only complaint was the cameras. The jumpy footage made it very bad to
Be sitting in the second row!! I wasn't going to leave though. Who knows when I would be able to go again. Pretty sure the girl next to me
it was much more equal in the theater I was at one entire row was nothing but HS/college age guys.
jumpy camera work was my biggest beef too.... but I did love it!
So can anyone explain the magic appearing dogs. Computer generated dogs can't kill people. They'd just be an illusion. Hubs doesn't accept
My explanation of them controlling the environment. We need scientific, plausible reasoning. Lol!
they are like the MockingJays - engineered by the Capitol - apparently using the previously deceased tributes...
not Mockingjays, Jabberjays were engineered by the govt. then they bred with Mockingbirds to make the Mockingjay species...
But how do they put them into the game? And computer generation isn't acceptable as they are real.
I think in the book, a hole opened up in the arena and they ran out???
or maybe a hovercraft thingy brought them in??
deceased tributes from the current Hunger Games. the beasts had their eyes, hair/fur color, and the collars had the # of the tribute.
Oh yea! I remember that now! Well, that makes it even more implausible.
According to the movie, everything was computer generated. So if you're going to have a problem with the dogs,
you'll also have to have beef with the fireballs. How could they be deadly if they're computer generated?
the fireballs could be from guns/fire throwers?? installed in the arena. dogs can't, in reality, appear out of nowhere unless they were
already bred and just waiting in the wings which the movie shows they were created and thrown in immediately. engineer mind, y'all.
as I tell the kids (and Harry) when they start questioning details: "It's not real!! it's all made up!!"
it drives me crazy when Harry starts dissecting movies I love...
I know!!! I was happy he wanted to take me and that he enjoyed it, but his dissection drove me crazy!!
lol - exactly - I'm always yelling "Honey!!! IT IS JUST A MOVIE!!!!"
