Horribly sad incident.(Ok to Stop reading here) Friend's dog, mostly a therapy dog for their trouble son, part of the family, hung by groomers.
Friend called in shambles not knowing what to do. She said the groomer called and said,"Come get your dog there's something wrong with it."
Oh no! Not sure the details, but guessing dog was left unattended on the table...
Rushed it to the vet, hardly breathing. Dog could not get decent air and died. Vet said the dog had been strangled.
Hate to ask, which groomer?
One of the big Pet chains. Think they would be smarter than that.
Oh! That is HORRIBLE. I have no other words, as I prep my boy today for his appt at PetSmart.
Sounds like there is opportunity for improvement. Family is distraught. He was a Teddy Bear breed.
That is TERRIBLE! I have heard stories of this before though.
I used to work at a groomers for a HS job and even tho the bosslady was strung out on meth the entire time, she was STRICT when it came to
watching the dogs on the tables and everything having to do with safety.
A tight lariat about the neck is going to lead to neck trauma or hanging immediately once the dog exits the table.Opportunity for invention.
Lower table, ergonomic kneeling station for groomer, breakaway tether, safety net,...
Look at the animal world. Why don't they have a heavyduty tethered clamp for the back of the neck?
That is how to pick up a dog. Their skin covers the entire surface of their neck and some of their chest.
Really wish I had a friend that would take my invention ideas, make their millions and kick me a wee portion.
my wife used to work as a vet assistant at petsmart and the vet she worked for killed her fair share of pets due to neglect
obviously not grooming, but look up reviews everywhere you can before taking your pet somewhere. the internet is out there, gotta use it :/
No kidding? Where's 60 Minutes phone number?? I guess there is a place for a major lawsuit to set the precedence that this is unacceptable.
I'm honestly surprised more people haven't sued. some of them were registered purebreds. wondering if there isn't something in the contract
I am believing we all know that grasping a dog or cat by the scruff of its neck promotes submissive control.
1st off, I do think you go right out and get your son a new puppy.
Probably was a contract. It's not like you're signing you understand risk of heart surgery. Yes, there may be a hair clump missed or nicks.
