assuming the role of a Consumer - do you read Seller's profile/product instructions before IMing them?

Yes. However when it gets to "debs a nc to this person" I don't listen. To many hands

This might sound rude but I bought the item from the designer and that is who I want to talk to. Unless its a store with designers alts like

personally i HATE when an owner has like other people to answer the calls. I can understand if you have a busy RL or something
Ksays
but really if i have an issue I don't want to NC some other person I want to talk to the maker.
Ksays

I figure this YOU made it, if there is a problem they should be able to come to YOU. I don't really ask for help unless the items completely

Ksays: Maybe the owner passed on the duty to someone who could better service you? If the owner trusts that person, why wouldn't you?
J.AITUI

gabieglam: By bypassing "instructions" to NC a csr, would you consider it bad Customer Service in the event you didn't get a response?
Ksays

Well like i said I will deal with them. I just personally prefer to deal with the maker. Cause as I said it's understandable if you

can't handle both jobs. All I really care when it comes to it bottom line is be nice. and answer back timely.

many CSR's have the duties they perform because the Designer/Owner cannot be online 24/7 like customers expect. Or
SasyScarborough
they do not understand English very well, or understand typonese at all.
SasyScarborough
Expecting to talk to the person you paid is a very SL thing. In RL you deal with staff, that is just the way, if you do not get a response
SasyScarborough
then definitely go to the owner/designer. But if a person directs you to how issues are handled, that is definitely the way to go.
SasyScarborough

and yes I read profiles instructions etc prior, sometimes I wish I read profiles before purchase, because some of those are BLECH
J.AITUI

Sasypants: I agree. Putting myself in the seat of a consumer I would imagine the desire to contact Seller's in all different ways to be
J.AITUI
non-existent. But I still thing reading instruction notecards/profiles before attempting to make contact to be in one's best interest.
SasyScarborough
definitely :-) and that a CSR cannot help is an assumption, in many cases the CSR can make things happen a lot faster, whether by having
SasyScarborough
access to all the items in stock, or helping with the product malfunctioning because they spent weeks in the beta stages, and know the item
SasyScarborough
inside out, they probably even wrote the instructions of its use :-D
SasyScarborough

plus and yes I am on a roll here this is my area lol...many stores CSR's are in fact alts that they do all their customer service on.

I've only ever had real problems with a product once or twice. Both times I read the instructions before contacting the vendor.
Nevermeow
I usually do, but what I do depends a bit on the tone of their profile. Not a fan of "Never, ever IM me, I'm too busy to talk to you!"-types
Nevermeow
And I'd rather talk to someone who's available and fluent in English, than bother with automated translations, for example.
J.AITUI

CorvusSzpiegel: What about their profile makes you think theyre "Too busy to talk to you" (I'm assuming in some "elitist" way?)
Nevermeow
I've read profiles that actually said something like that!
J.AITUI
That's pretty disheartening..
Nevermeow
When I msg someone about a problem with their product, it will be serious, and I try to be down to business and not waste ppls time
Nevermeow
But as a customer, I expect to be treated with a bit of respect, not like I'm bothering or annyoying a designer just by IMing them.
J.AITUI
CorvusSzpiegel: Definitely, it goes both ways :-) Customers deserve prompt help & response, and creator's deserve customer's attempt at
J.AITUI

following instructions/contact requests, they are usually in-place for a good reason. Thanks everyone for the cool discussion!
